In this first step of the Success Clarifier, you will begin to explore where your mind organizes its views around success. The Success Clarifiers starts with a very simple question and progresses to deeper and more thoughtful questions to unpack and help you become aware of how you view the concept of success.
Often, our view of success and what it means to be successful is developed and formed by experiences we had as children. These views and beliefs most likely were influences from your parents, coaches, neighbors or other family members through things that you have been told, such as “we can’t afford that” or “money doesn’t grow on trees, you know.”
When you answer the questions, if you need to jot down notes or write the answers out on a separate piece of paper, then do so. Some questions have several sub-questions and provocative prompts. Take one question at a time.
This step of the program is not about diving deep into your past, but merely becoming aware of how your past may be affecting your current thoughts and behaviors. I encourage you to take your time answering these first three questions.
When answering the questions posed, it is best to create a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable space, typically alone to avoid outside influences. Read the question and pause and reflect for at least a minute before answering. Be aware of thoughts, images, postures that come up. Good luck and happy exploring!
See you in Step 2!
